Chasing the thunder by QuanticChaos1000 Chasing the thunder by QuanticChaos1000
There's a storm a-comin'...

Saw some big storms heading in as I was heading home, so I did the only logical thing, I put my car in harms way and got about 25 shots of it with the menacing clouds as a backdrop. I liked this shot the most!

Here is a similar angle taken not too far away from this spot but at dusk

My 1931 Pontiac 401 Sport sedan on CarDomain: [link] and more shots of it here on :devart: [link]

Very nice photo, and great car... there is a guy here in my town who owns a 1931 Model A Ford touring car in rough unrestored shape and a 1934 Ford V8 five-window coupe in somewhat better condition, inherited them from his parents who'd bought them new here in Eugene and drives them often. He has vowed never to hot-rod them, the only modifications to them are 8-volt electrical systems on both and 1936 steel wheels on the coupe. I hope to get pics of them...

8 volt?

Do you mean 12 volt? Because 8 volt is about 70 years out of date...

Could be 12-volt, and probably is, he may have gotten the 8-volt thing from what his dad said before he passed away in his 90s 5 years ago...

I have had it up to 75MPH and it still had more left, it's a straight 6 split head with a 3 speed!

I usually cruise it at 45-55mph.

Thanks a lot! :D

It's actually not hard to have a car like this, it either takes a bit of cash to buy one that is close to or already done, or it takes a lot of skill and time and patience to build one from a rough car found in the bush, I have done both routes and building it is not the fast route, but it's infinitely more satisfying!

This car was my late uncles, he and my aunt built it originally, but my dad and I have since redone about 75% of it, the more we work on it, the more it becomes ours.

I agree on the bit about building up a car yourself, I've done so with one ('80 Camaro) and it was one of the coolest experiences I've had! Can't wait til we have more room and I can maybe pick something up to tinker on!

Oh yeah, if you have the room to do it it's so worth it to me, I just finished a 36 GMC Rat Rod Tow Truck and as of a week ago it's 100% legal and on the road, I'm still giddy about being able to actually drive it!

Thanks!

They really are, there was so much style and class on the surface, of course there was a seedy dark side to every era and this car usually invoke s a lot of mafia and gangster comments when I drive it... I need a Tommy gun! ;p

I broke my drivers side rear axle shaft last week... hoping I can find a replacement.

How do I do what? Get the pose or find the car? I own and drive the car everyday in the nice weather, and the poses are usually not planned at all, I usually just move around till I like the way it looks!

I buy and sell cars all the time, I rescue a lot of rare vintage ones from the crusher and find homes for them, and I fix up and drive as many as I can, it can be expensive at times, but I do most of the work myself or with my family!

I love old cars, and the fact that this one is like over 70 years old makes it even 900x more awesome than it already is. you're so damn lucky to have one in such a good condition, you know that?
