I thought this time I'd talk about why I do whatever it is that I do, that being why I am so into Sonic The Hedgehog comics, games, TV shows and things of that nature.
I was never into comics that much as a kid, my dad would but Archie Double Digests and MAD magazine fairly often, but that was as far as I would venture into the world drawn media for a long time. (although I did find his stash of "Heavy Metal", "Epic" and Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers" comics and I liked those a lot!)
Until December 1992 when I found issue #0 of Sonic The Hedgehog on a local newstand, I flipped through it knowing exactly who it was bassed on and why, I even remember buying that issue with just about all of the change I had in my pockets (I was only 9) and I read it cover to cover over and over till my older brother took it from me to read, then promptly destroy.
I tried to get any issues I could find after that, but they were few and far between, I remember having #0, 1 (mini series) and 1 (main series) and a few random issues including Princess Sally #2, but these have become lost to the passage of time.
I could never find issues for many years and eventually forgot about them till 2 years ago when I was going on a cross-country road trip to pick up a 1946 Ford Hearse from southern Ontario Canada, that's when I decided to try and find some issues and to start drawing Sonic The Hedgehog characters for the first time ever!
After driving all the way to Ontario from Alberta, through the northern US and southern Canada, I checked every gas station and newstand I could along to the way to no avail. I finally found an issue at a 7-11 in Lethbridge Alberta at 4 am on my way home, I was just 10 hours or so from home after a long journey and I finally found one! It was issue #163 and I could'nt be happier at that moment!
Shortly there after I discovered a fantastic comic shop in my local area that had nearly 50 issues, and over the course of 2 months I ended up buying every one they had. Then I discovered the joys(?) of eBay, I have spent far too much time and money finding issues there but now I have a good collection, better then 0 far better than having 50 or so random ones too!
But I still need more (need?) I don't have very many of the issues between #78 and 128, and I am still mising a few along the way.

But my lust (as it were) for Sonic The Hedgehog-ness did'nt stop there, once I discovered Sonic X I had to have those comics, and the DVDs, and the card game even (and I hate card games) and I had to find all of the games, I even bought a Game Cube just so I could play the few Sonic games that were out for it! After a while of talking to other STH freaks out there (on the interweb!) I found out about the Japanese made Sonic The Hedgehog Movie (Manga?) with it's terrible dub and great soundtrack, I found a copy and had it shipped in from Japan, it even came wrapped in a plain brown wrapper, as if it were porn or something like that, at this point porn would have been more acceptable to my friends and family as most people around me were weirded out by my renewed interest in something supposidly targeted at children (this only became worsened when I finally got my own copy of the Sonic The Hedgehog "Sat Am" box set thanks to a fellow fan in New York, Thanks Dan!).
But I know that I am not alone, in fact there seems to be a staggering abundance of others like me, older, younger, in every walk of life. Some even to the point of being psychotic about who is with who and why (something I don't really understand) but as time goes on I become more knowledgeable, and more skilled in my personal art of this interesting jaunra (but worse at spelling as time goes on!) and I feel as if it were a part of me, perhaps because I have invested so much effort into this, or maybe even because of the passion that most people seem to have for the characters and the stories.
An ironic fact is that I love the series, but am not a big fan of Sonic himself as I like the female and lesser male roles more, and find those characters much more interesting and deep most of the time. This is in turn reflected in my art and my skill, it may be psycological that I have a harder time drawing Sonic versus Sally Acorn or even Tails Prower, but who knows.
I do hope that as time goes on I will be able to hone my artistic skills (such as they are) and become better at what I do, although every time I get a new watcher here, of a fan on another site it makes me feel very good, like at least there might be a reason I am still trying to do this!
But for those of you who would'nt know unless you know me in real life or from another site, I developed fairly bad arthritis when I was about 12 years old, it made drawing and writing very hard and painful for me to do at all, and for many years I never drew at all except for highly detailed tiny drawings I would leave on scraps of paper when I waiting for people, usually done on napkins or what have you at their houses, but even that action was too much for me most of the time.
That is until 2 years ago (just before I decided to try to find those Sonic comics) when I decided that I really missed drawing like I used to (I had recieved a lot of attention for my former skills as a child) and I tried to draw hoping that I still had the abilities that I thought would be finite and ingrained within me, but unfortuantely I had appeard to have lost my skill, and due to that I lost my ambition for a while.
But after a lot of thought, and advice from many people who were aware of what I used to love doing, I tried to draw once again, this time sticking with it till I had some sort of a result, after what seemed like an eternity I have a rather crude sketch of Cream The Rabbit lying before on a sheet of paper. She was malformed to say the least but it was a result none the less.
I practiced and experimented whenever I had the chance, and over the last year and a half I have improved vastly, I don't know if I will ever be as good as I once was all the time, but at least I have still have moments when I can get my thoughts and feelings on to a page the way they looked in my head!
A good example of this is my picture "Bunnie Rabbot being attacked by Nanites" [link] which is bassed off of an existing picture, but changed and more detailed to be what I thought it should have been! And every now and then I am able to do a picture that in my mind is good, and that's good enough for me most days!

The other obsession I have in life is cars and trucks, ever since I was born I have been surrounded by antique autos, tools, parts, and a passion for the world of the automobile. [link]
When I was a child (I'm 24 right now) my mom drove a 1953 Chevrolet 210 2-door and my dad drove a 1956 Ford Country Sedan staion wagon with a Thunderbird 312, dual exhaust, a 4 bbl carb and a Ford-O-Matic! My earliest and fondest memories are of us traveling and cruising in this old Ford, and how safe I always felt in it.
When I was 2 my dad found a 1946 Ford glass-top bus sitting the remains of a junk-yard in northern Alberta Canada, I remember my brothers and I and my dad working many, many long hours on that bus to get it back into shape, it took many years and a lot of effort but it was always worth it for us!

I got my first car when I was 11 years old, it's a 1937 Dodge Brothers 2-door that was very rough, but for the last 13 years I have gathered all of the missing parts and am now ready to start on it!
I can not imadgine what my life would be like without a few vintage cars and trucks at home, I need to have that, and a lot of peole just don't understand that way of thinking. I am happiest when I am driving a vintage car or truck just to the mundane things in life, getting groceries or something like that!
One of the cars I have a nearly life long obsession with is the Ford EXP and the Mercury LN7, a small car based on the Ford Escort/Mercury Lynx platform, and few have ever heard of them. I currently own 2 1982 Ford EXP's, a 1982 Mercury Ln7, a 1983 Mercury LN7, and a 1988 Ford EXP!
